The Making Of Max
My Story
My spiritual journey began in childhood, sparked by a deep fascination with science and a sense of connection to something greater. Inspired by the moon landing and the night sky, I attended a program sponsored by Brooklyn College for astrophysics. My mother and sister, both deeply mystical, further influenced my spiritual awareness. Growing up on 14th Street, I was introduced to integral yoga, which was across the street, and began practicing yoga, Zen, and macrobiotics as a teenager.
My passion for science and spirituality continued at Columbia, where studying quantum mechanics reinforced my belief in their connection. Volunteering for the Dalai Lama during his first Kalachakra in NYC, I delved into sound frequencies and created a sound room to explore their effects. This led me to the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, where I continued my journey in energy work. Parallel to my spiritual journey, I developed an entrepreneurial spirit rooted in my father's haberdashery, where I gained experience in apparel branding, style, and body types, later honing my technical design skills at FIT and Parsons.
In my fashion career, I incorporated my physics and branding experience to create new silhouettes and brands that were later sold to top department stores and private label fashion collateral to top beauty companies. Currently, I am developing a men's designer brand. One of my key projects is Mama Gaiam, a community initiative in Chelsea and the Village, aimed at creating a positive local and global impact. Mama Gaiam is also in the same location as my father’s store. Central to my work is the belief that self-love and self-worth are essential for true manifestation. My ongoing work with sound focuses on how different frequencies can align individuals with their higher selves, including techniques like Qigong, breathwork, and energy.

Sound Healing
"This photograph is of a class I was teaching at the Open Center in 1992 after experiencing the sound current in one of my meditations. This deepen my understanding of Nada Yoga which I I later taught incorporating full spectrum harmonic toning of the sacred vowels,.

HARMONIC OM
"For me there are three parts to the OM. The first is OM (duality) the second is AUM (trinity) the third is AEIOU (Full Expansion). When toning with harmonics I begin to naturally go into geometric “melodies” using micro tones and maintain a strong sense of where the sound is in within my body and out side. It’s very important to maintain an erect but relaxed position siting position to align the electrical current in the spine which naturally creates the electro magnetic field around the body. With practice you can sense this."

KIRTAN
“Maxananda is a master harmonic singer, practitioner of Nada Yoga, leads kirtans and is a recording member of Krishnadas posse. The harmonics he sings balances and aligns the Human energetic system and corresponds to the natural frequency partials found in nature known as the Fibonacci sequence. Maxananda will deepen your bhakti Kirtan experience by infusing micro tonal and harmonic overtones. while we chanting the bhajans with an emphasis on the Sanskrit vibrations. Maxananda will also demonstrate the five sonic qualities of the Om followed by the Hari Om bhajan. Also sing the Ganesha mantra using Tuva style throat singing followed by the Ganesha bhajan. As time permits more Bakti Bhajans and teachings will follow. I will demonstrate microtonal singing using harmonics to empower and entrain the seed sounds of the bhajans we will sing."
